More Health Reform Implementation

People continue to be hungry for information on what health reform means for them and how the whole process will be implemented. In the worst case scenario, as demonstrated by this Florida physician, your doctor–not the government–may be making the decision that if you like your doctor you can’t keep them. Denying care to existing patients on the basis of political beliefs seems a bit like a shirking of professional (and ethical) responsibility and may invite some lawsuits. Besides which, how will the doctor in question know whether a patient supports health reform or not? Seems to me that a patient could always lie.

Assuming you aren’t a patient at Geriatric Orthopedic Physicians (GOP), Inc. or Tea Party Urology, you can expect more humane treatment. The Commonwealth Fund has a handy guide to the next steps in the health reform process. It’s worth looking through.
