Sign The "Keep Our Health Care As It Is" Petition

08 Sep

Someone I know–I won’t call them a friend–sent me an invitation via email to sign-on to a petition to “Free Our Health Care NOW!” If you want to take a look at it, you can go here. In a testament to the sheer enormity of the internet, over 1.2 million people have signed it. I think we can do better.

I’m sure that there are other similar petitions circulating out there–the White House even has a sign-up page–that encourage people to pledge their support of health reform. However, I thought a petition in favor of the status quo was missing, which is ironic considering how many people seem to prefer that to reform. Thus, I created the “Keep Our Health Care As It Is” petition, which I encourage you to read and sign to show your support for the current American health care system. And, of course, forward this on to your friends, enemies, and colleagues, because all of us deserve a chance to be heard.*

*Disclaimer: This petition, while entirely real and functional, is a work of satire. At first, I assumed that would be self-evident, but after reading some of the comments I have received, I thought it best to be as transparent as possible about that.
